Guest Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Delta ricefields are the bomb. I grew up in the Delta, hunting the lower White, Cache River, St. Francis, Languille, Bayou DeView, and the Mighty Mississippi. I sure do miss hunting in that standing timber on clear blue bird days.
Members Creede Posted September 16, 2012 Members Posted September 16, 2012 Anyone make it out today? I finally got time to go and only saw two small groups of teal get up and land back down where they were when a bass boat drove by. Not much flying where I was.
duckydoty Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I was busy getting chased around by bears at Brooks Falls today fishing with DD'sMC. In the first 4 hours of trying to fish, we only got to fish for a total of about 30 minutes because there were 52 bears in the area. I will make it out tomorrow for a little duck hunting on the Naknek River though. Harlequins, gadwalls, mallards, pintail, teal, buffle heads, ruddy's, cacklers, and sand hills are on the hit list tomorrow! A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Yupper 2 man limit plus got into a wide open striper surface bite, they were busting shad for almost 20 minutes straight. As we finished off the limit we saw it start and ran over casting bucktails. 3 of them were in the 20 to 25 range. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
BilletHead Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Mr. and Mrs. BilletHead did not go in the rain yesterday morning but we did get nine dove in the afternoon. This morning five teal met there maker and will end up in out bellies. Members Creede Posted September 16, 2012 Members Posted September 16, 2012 Congratulations on your successful hunts. I still have a lot to learn about beaver between now and regular waterfowl season. Yesterday was my first hunt on beaver but not my last. We forgot The poles but had shad busting the surface all morning. It would have been nice to try for some topwater action after the slow wet morning.

Members Creede Posted September 17, 2012 Members Posted September 17, 2012 No we were up war eagle. I'm not real sure what was working them but on the way to our spot my buddy turned around and said that was the most shad he had ever seen. Mostly small ones under two inches but I seemed there were patches of shad in the 6 inch range. I don't guess stripers are gonna be up that far yet so maybe largemouth?
