dave potts Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I have a 1995, 50 lb. thrust foot control trolling motor, Motor Guide model that I have a problem with. On the foot control there is a wheel on the side that you rotate to change speeds. The wheel is getting harder and harder to turn. I see no way to adjust it. Any thoughts as to what is causing it and how to fix it? Thanks, Dave
Dutch Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Have you tried WD-40? You can call Scott or Brad at Marine Repair Center in Springfield and get a good answer. 417-833-9191
Jerry Rapp Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I would say after 17 years you got your money worth's out of it and just get a new one. It will be just one thing after another, if it hasn't been already.
dave potts Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 I talked to the guys at Springfield. They said it needed a new switch-a $15 part. Beats buying a new motor.

Just an update in case others ever have a similar problem. Installed the new switch last week and that fixed the problem. Also seems to have more power. Fairly simple too install. Thanks for the tip Dutch. Dave
Dutch Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 You are welcome Dave. Scott has been in the business since he was just a kid working with his dad.
