Jack Jones Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Hello: I'm stuck in Columbia for seminars today and tomorrow. Out at 5 pm. each day My hotel is right near I-70, 10 miles south of Finger Lakes. Are there any recommendations on places to fish without a boat around here the next few nights? I have both spinning and fly gear. I was thinking of checking out Lick Creek CA. Any info on that? exiledguide Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 What about Finger Lakes I haven't fished it in a long time has it gone downhill?
Jack Jones Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 I did Finger Lakes last year. It was slow going but I pulled a few in. Was hoping for more options but if no one posts, I'll probably go there again. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
Members Morgan F. Posted September 26, 2012 Members Posted September 26, 2012 I grew up about 30 minutes Northwest of Columbia in Fayette. There are 3 city lakes just outside of town that offer fair bank fishing. The Gazateer or a quick map search should take you right to them. Wish I had a closer recommendation but that's all I can think of...good luck!
dave potts Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 There's some bank fishing available at Little Dixie Lake at Millersburg-about 10 miles away. Dave
Outside Bend Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Lots of old strip pits to explore at Finger Lakes and Rocky Fork, Lick Creek has a pretty good impoundment with bass, bluegill, channel catfish and a few crappie. Little Dixie is 20 or so minutes east of town and can have some pretty good fishing, it gets a fair amount of pressure from both Columbia and Fulton, though. <{{{><
Jack Jones Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Went to Lick Creek tonight. Came up with a few bluegill on poppers and one bass on a plastic worm. Gonna try Finger Lakes tomorrow night. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
Brian Sloss Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Little dixie has row boats you can use for a small fee, at least they used to. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
ozarkgunner Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Go to Ashland lake ten mins south of Columbia. Angler At Law
fishinwrench Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 What do they call the old dairy farm now, didn't MDC take that over? Used to be HUGE bluegill in there. Ditto with McCreedy outside of Kingdom city.
