Been a member of Tinboats.net since I bought my jon about 9 months ago. I have gotten a lot of help there, the jon was my 1st boat. There is a bunch of really good ideas over there. There site is well run & all the members seem are real friendly. If you have a jon or thinking of getting one I would recommend the site.

There is a buy/sell/trade section so you might want to become a member (free) and post a WTB of what you are looking for someone my have what your looking for there or know of one.

exiledguide i am cautious about craigs list and the condition of those boats. i worry how they are treated during their lifetime. were you looking for a john boat for springfield?

Patrick, sorry I didn't follow up on your question. I just look at craigslist as a source for used boats and motors I haven't found what I wanted in a complete package most of the real good deals I have seen are more boat and horsepower than I want. If you lookat a used boat make sure the motor starts and runs. If someone has a boat for sale and they won't do that then I would walk away from it. I've been looking for a 14 ft jon with a quality trailer and I missed two boats by not finding out about them soon enough.

It took me two months last winter but I found the boat I wanted exactly, a 1448 lowe jon with a freshly redone trailer. The boat came with aluminum decks and a new transom.
