Bill Babler Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I agree...the depth seems odd at times, but this is an effective technique. I have a fairly economic rig Falcon Lowrider Dropshot rod Shimano Symetre 8lb Maxima 8lb Floro leader (approx. 3 feet) lots of Chomper drop shot worms I have used this technique all they way into November and anywhere from 22-100 feet. I can not emphasize the importance of a good graph. Really makes a defference. What He Said. Just about as simple and as good as you can do! http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members Targa Posted October 12, 2012 Members Posted October 12, 2012 What is the best way to load the 4" cut tail worm on the hook?
riverfish Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 just a simple hook through the nose nothing fancy, i think thats why theyre so expensive rarely do you hook more that two fish with the same worm and you go through alot of them
Rodmaker Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Bill. What color maxima mono do you like on the rock? Thank
Members Topwater TRL Posted October 20, 2012 Members Posted October 20, 2012 I know its not sexy but I use a line counter reel with 8# fc. If you see a fish at 27', you can be absolutely sure with the line counter reel you are putting that bait at their exact depth without having to actually see your bait on the graph. Easy to move bait up and down to match depth of new fish you spot on the graph. Have put a ton of ds fish in the boat using a line counter reel and medium light 6' bait casting rod. Heck, with a little practice, you can even make a toss cast to active surface fish. Another advantage, you can call out the depth to the wife and she can reel her bait up or down to the preferred depth without having to be right next to you with her line in the graph cone. Give it a try. I use the smallest DepthMaster II reel. Topwater TRL
