Yeah -- I'd say check out Yakima too. They're not cheap, but they are built right.

For sure get a rack if you can, but in a pinch the blocks would be fine IMO. I have a truck so mine just goes in the back, but I have had to use the foam blocks with my wifes car and other's cars at the last moment when we decided to go to the creek!

Go to Yakima or Thule websites. Follow the instructions. And you might find a system for about 300-350 dollars depending. Best carrying system for your investment.

Foam blocks are not reliable since you still have to tie off the boat to something. Most factory racks are not designed for racking a boat or driving long distances at the speed limit.

my old town 120 dirigo arrived today...on my birthday too..haha...very cool. Well I am so excited to use it but I must say I certainly underestimated how tough it will be to get the 'yak up on the car. 50 LB Kayak is heavier than i thought....haha....oops!

That's why I say to check out that loader I posted the link to. It works great. It cost me about $20 to build, doesn't mark up the car, and is perfect for solo loading.

Rackattack.com is another good source. I've bought 2 assemblies from them at real reasonable prices. They have Yakima and Thule fit programs.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
