I wish I had better news to report, but the last couple days have been tough fishing. I've been accompanied by my brother who's somewhat less than accomplished fisherman. We started out Friday with him throwing a couple of my finely tuned, freshly spooled Chronarchs. Didn't take but 30 mins to have em both trashed past their useful life...should have taken a pic of the birds nests as they were about as bad as I've ever seen :). Moved him to the spin cast equipment and we were cooking with gas.

Both Fri and Sat was pretty tough to pull together any kind of a pattern. I could find em deep as BB had mentioned, but they wouldn't' hardly look at the dropshot or spoon..no takers. We did manage a few shorts on single tail grubs (smoke with silver flake in the clouds, smoke and pepper when sunny)...as well as a few on the tube, small PBJ jig, and a WM candy finesse worm. Most fish were taken pretty shallow 6-10', tight to cedar trees with some wind blowing. Flat calm water only produced one fish but we needed to get out of the wind occasionally to warm the hands back up.

Pardon my laughing about the Chronarchs. Been there, done that. Just grateful that Donna came pretty much pre-trained on baitcasters when we met. I think you may have been about a week or two early for the start of the good fall bite. I may be wrong, but I think it's about to break loose. For me, it usually takes the weather getting cool enough that you have frost more mornings than not to get em going.

We fished all day Friday and 1/2 a day on Saturday. Spent both days in the Long Creek Arm. On Friday we fished from Big Cedar to the state line, on Saturday from Big Cedar up to the Old Hwy 86 campground. We caught a total of about 15 fish - mainly spots, with a couple of smallmouths and two largemouths. One keeper, couple that went about 14". It was pretty tough.

Caught most of our fish Friday on a spinnerbait shallow. Caught most of them on Saturday on a tube on bluff ends. We beat the banks in the wind with chunk rock pretty hard and didn't have much to show for it. Also fished some main and secondary points.
