Still 90 degrees in the desert. Man, WHY DID I MOVE TO THE FREAKING DESERT!?! And why do I keep reading this forum despite being 2,000+ miles away!?!

How about you and I trade lives for a few months? The desert sounds pretty awesome to me about now.

Why would anyone want to live in a Desert? It is a desert, low moisture, not much plant life, temp extremes. Give me MO any day.

Why? Because it was awesome. I was in El Centro, CA, the Imperial Valley. Every irrigation canal is full of bass and catfish. This time of year dove season is in full swing. You'll kill a limit in 30 minutes or less if you know the right place to be in. Also the ducks and geese are starting to arrive. I had one little honey hole that you could count on it having 200 ducks or more in every morning and evening. Find a mud puddle and you'll find 20 ducks sitting in it. Find any good hay field near one of the few and hidden small lakes, and you'll be shooting snow and Canadian geese all day long. Not to mention all the pheasants and cottontails you'll find in those hay fields. Take an hour ride out of the valley into the mountains and you will find lakes filled with rainbows, and deer every where. Spent 8 years there while working for Lockheed and Dyncorp, and loved every minute of it.

I'd like to hear more about some of those lakes. I'm in Riverside for the next 5-6 years. Not that I have any time to get away, but I'd try my best to make it. I went up to Yosemite to fly fish before school started. There wasn't much water, but I managed to find some smaller trout. But that was like a 7 hour drive, not feasible to do over a weekend.
