I have 2 of LEWS reels and they are very nice for the money. Was wondering if their rods are any good and if anyone here has used them? A brand that makes good reels doesn't necessarily translate to making nice rods so I thought I'd reach out for some opinions.

I actually got to play with some prototypes the other day and they felt very nice, Didnt get to use them on fish but put a few through my normal paces when looking them over, They felt as good as my St Croix's and had very good balance, no clue on the price's but very nice feeling rods.

Then again I have played with Shimano prototypes in the past that felt very good and when they hit the stores did not even feel the same and when on fish didnt act like the prototype. So take what im posting for what they might be not what they are.

Still IMHO the best rods ever made were Sabers, ( not the penn sabers those are junk ) I am talking Saber made by Leon Todd who now makes Cal-star. Thye are very pricey but if you want to feel what perfection is they are it.

I love their reels, as well. Their rods, however, don't compete with other rods at their respective price points. Even the new line of rods they will be introducing don't compare to the competitions rods. Like I said, I'm a huge fan/advocate of their reels...but in my opinion, their rods have a ways to go.

I have one of their rods that I bought with a combo at Wally World. I then put a Tournament Pro on it. It cast pretty well, haven't caught any fish on it yet. So far I like it but I really don't have anything to compare it to. Just bought a Falcon so we'll see after the Falcon arrives.

I used to be a Falcon fan, I had several of there rods and really loved the way there were balanced. I used to fish the old Lews reels back in the Childer's day's

so I bought and tried out the new Lews reels. I fell in love with there reels and having been using them about 3 years now.I to wanted to try out there rods. So I

bought 2 rods and and tried them out for 3 months to see if that was what I wanted to go with, especially since a friend of my said he would buy them if I didn't

like them.I like the way they are balanced and the quick action tip still with plenty of backbone. I change all my rods to Lews and I haven't been diappointed at all

Just my 2 cents

I changed over to Lews reels giving up my curados. And then got switched to their team pro rods. They are light, sensitive and durable. But the best thing is supporting a local company with good staff to help with your needs and warranty if problems arise. Jim Lovan and staff are top notch.

Guess I need to change to something besides my substandard Shimano rods. I did buy a couple of the white Duckett MicroMagic rods last year and have been extremely happy with them. Very light, very sensitive and so far very durable. Plus, those itty bitty guides really help when sliding them into the tubes in the rod locker of my boat.
