A tale of teams last night. MU shot 23% in the first half and 58% in the second half. That first half was a bit tough to watch, but they just missed their shots. The potential is easy to see. Next week should be interesting, but I am cautiosuly optimistic. It will be a good gauge of were they are, but I wouldn't be too alarmed if they struggle next week. I think it is gonna take some time to get it into gear which is why I think they will be much better come tourney time.

Missouri looked decent last night against Stanford. Our shooting wasn't good at all, but if anything it's good if you can beat a decent team while shooting under 40% from the field. Missouri will have a really tough game today though against Louisville. Another rough shooting day probably won't get it done.

I do like this team though. I particularly love the defense, something that we could have used in the past. Great three point shooting is nice, but good defense and rebounding is a lot more reliable. Between Oriakhi and Bowers inside and the big athletic wings (Bell and Ross) we appear have an ability to stifle opposing offenses to a greater degree than at any point I can remember. On top of that, Phil Pressey has been playing well so far. It's too early to say anything definitive, but I think the team as currently composed is capable of top 3-4 finish in the SEC and making the tournament, barring injuries or something else unforeseen. Get Dixon and Jabari Brown in the line-up, who should both be much needed offensive threats, and Missouri can be so much more than that. I'll be interested to see how competitive we can be against Louisville, and whether we can beat either Duke or VCU tomorrow.

Wow, Mizzou didn't look good last night against Louisville. They had Pressey contained for most of the night and Mizzou couldn't adjust.

Missouri rebounded nicely over VCU though. A very good game for Pressey, along with Negus Webster Chan, Laurence Bowers, and Keion Bell. Just a really solid overall effort. VCU is a good, well-coached team. This team is about what I expected...gritty, tough, good defensively. But not quite enough explosiveness on offense to be elite just yet. Still, Stanford and VCU should be quality wins at the end of the season and even a loss to Louisville will help the RPI, no matter how ugly it was.

Right now, this looks like a solid, most likely tournament team. I'm not sure how much further I want to go than that...Jabari Brown should help. Don't know what to think about what's going on with Michael Dixon though, with no real information available. I hope whatever it is is relatively minor, but we will see.

Rumor has it dixon was caught cheating...possibly paying someone to do his work. Think he may be suspended until he makes up the work or until january. again just speculation, and just a guess, but it has to be academic related at this point.

It was a rape charge. Student body panel punished him. There is no legal or law enforcement action against him.

My opinion? Either dismiss him from the team, or play him. This purgatory of being on the team but not playing is nonsense.

Firstoff... If you have a bad apple ya better get it out of the basket. I have no problem with the end result here. These stories get out and sometimes they're correct and sometimes not.

Second off.....the way this was reported in this article was typical of so much reportig these days. Again I have no problem with it being written about but this article belongs in the Enquirer! I read and reread this and noticed how many times the words believes, could have, apparently, may havebeen, it's believed, she blieved...you get the idea here. If it's fact report it. If not don't. You're affecting a person's life with all these maybe's. That's why I seldom read the papers anymore. If I want an opinion I'll read the opinion section or if I want a story full of "IF's" and "Maybe's" i can get that in the checkout counter rags.

Third off...... We'll survive without him. Gonna be hard to replace his talents on the court but hope Bell, Chan, and Dec 17th Brown can fill his shoes. Louieville sure showed we need anothe ball handler!
