Members soxpac Posted November 12, 2012 Members Posted November 12, 2012 Hello fellow Bass anglers. Just curious, what kind of line and what poundage is everyone using here in the SW Mo area? Big Game 20# for pitching jigs Big Game 14# for topwater Vanish 12# for everything else Considering ditching flouro all together and going Stren Magnathin on everything but wuold love some feedback before I do. Had a guy tell me I wouldnt catch as much if I did but I'm not buying that cuz I catch as much on either line as I ever did The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing. ~Babylonian Proverb
Nitroman Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Smart man, " DITCH THE VANISH " as that is what your lures & fish are going to do, " VANISH " when you use it. I have lost more lures & fish ( in a short period of time ) because of FLURO. than I did in all the years I used MONO. I have tried different brands, different knots, same results. I have switched over to YO-ZURI HYBRID & am very happy with it. Lower cost, & IMO performs just as well as FLUOR. " TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT " !!!!!!! The LB. TEST you are using looks good but I also use 8LB. & 10LB. @ times. Rock View Resort Table Rock Lake Greg Pope, Owner/Operator & Fishing Guide

Quillback Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 You'll get a lot of opinions on this subject, but I've gone over to floro for the most part except for topwaters and Spinner baits which I use mono for. I love the sensitivy of floro. Gotta tie good knots, and check for abrasion and kinks as floro is pretty unforgiving, but other than that I'm happy with it.
Dutch Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 I tried a bunch of fluros and tossed them. I use braid and mono. I like light line so I use nothing more than 12# mono but do use up to 50# braid and rarely use a leader.
Mitch f Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Like Nitro I love Yozuri hybrid, I use it on everything except topwater. For topwater I either use braid or Sufix Seige "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
drew03cmc Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 I have been using Sufix Elite on my casting reels in 10# test. I like the way it casts and handles. It has very little memory, and casts very well in cold weather as well as warm weather. Andy
Nitroman Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 What do you think of going all mono? SOXPAC: Sure, all MONO why not ? Years ago before all this " HIGH TECH " stuff all we had & used was MONO except for a very few that used braid. Now you have to stand in a BPS store and stare @ a wall of line that is endless & just as confusing. Get yourself some good MAXIMA MONO ( GREEN ) & you will be set. At least till they come up with the next " NEW & IMPROVED GOTTA HAVE IT OR YOU WILL NEVER CATCH ANOTHER FISH " line !!!!!!! Rock View Resort Table Rock Lake Greg Pope, Owner/Operator & Fishing Guide
Members soxpac Posted November 12, 2012 Author Members Posted November 12, 2012 Whats funny is I let big box brands talk me into flouro when the most fish of my life was cought on Trilene. The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing. ~Babylonian Proverb
Nitroman Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Know what you mean & felt the pain " IN MY WALLET " every time I bought a spool of FLUOR. Then to add insult to injury on the back-cast it breaks & a $16.00 LUCKY CRAFT JERK BAIT go's AWOL or breaks on the hook set with a jig & I almost launch myself off the front deck !!!!!!! Till it fails me YO-ZURI HYBRID !!!!!!! Still a TRILENE man, love their BIG GAME for flipping, it just don't break. Rock View Resort Table Rock Lake Greg Pope, Owner/Operator & Fishing Guide
