Teachers fail as often as they succeed, same with soldiers. Do I think the same results could be had minus extensive tactical training? Possibly.....Probably.

A 1000 yard (known range) shot with the proper artillery? Probably, but why would I choose to?

Me protecting squirrels? You lost me with that one. You apparently only recognize two types of people as they relate to guns. There are more.

So in the presence of a nervous semi-paranoid (but TRAINED) "weapon" carrier I am expected to provide for my own margin of safety ? This is why I'm sounding off long after I apologized for saying anything in the first place, and said I was done..... and it makes my point better than I could have myself. Thanks.

Remind me to ask you in 3 months if you're still training daily. LOL

Training for the unexpected

Teachers train for the expected, how to teach better.

I fish, so me training how to be better at golf would be me training for the unexpected. Not likely to happen

I once while hanging on a street corner in north St Louis I thought I was being robbed at gun point. When the robber finally drew his weapon it turned out to be a bologna. Turns out the ole boy just wanted to trade his bologna for a beer. I gave him the beer and let him keep his balogna.

I love that story! :)

Would you have responded the same way if he merely stated that he completed the 8 hour course to CCW and felt comfortable about CCW?

I think his efforts to continue his education shows a commitment to the responsible that CCW carries. I would definately feel more comfortable around him.

But... what happens when the zombies come?

Here's a pretty good article on what to do.

I'm already betting this will be the best post on this thread :)

No, because we've already hashed the mere CCW stuff out in the past. It was the composition of the OP that riled me up. If he had accentuated(*****) Safety at least once during his description of his families fresh new training excersize instead of drilling on terms like *Combative*, *Tactical*, and *Weapons* then I probably would have assumed more towards the responsibility aspect of it all. But all I see there is an inexperienced young man with a family who is all goosed up on preparing for bloodshed and heroism. And I figured that saying something to calm him down just a bit could do no harm. That's all.
