Members Born to Fish Posted November 27, 2012 Members Posted November 27, 2012 GREAT father/son trip!! Thanks for sharing.
Members birdman Posted November 27, 2012 Members Posted November 27, 2012 CNR you're right, his dad is awesome! My younger brother and I were fortunate enough to be family friends in the early 70's and we made many trips to Bennett with XP-590 and his family...wonderful memories. More imporantly is the impact it has made on our lives, my family has made many trips to Bennett and the love of fishing and the outdoors has impacted my daughter and son, I know my grand children will have the same experiences (don't have any yet). Since we live in western Oklahoma we split time between the mountains and Tanney/Bennett/R River. One thing we have done is to invite one of my son or daughters friends to come along with us so they can experience trout fishing like I did as a kid. If it weren't for the kindness and patients of XP's dad I don't believe my brother and I would have ever experienced trout fishing and I know for sure we would not be the men we are today without those childhood experiences (lessons) we had with them. The years and miles seperated us but XP and I have recently reconnected and spent a few days at Tanney last year, plan on doing alot more! Thanks Pop! Birdman Tim
Members Newbie Fly Posted November 27, 2012 Members Posted November 27, 2012 XP ... Great insiprational writing I am sure it conjures up great memories and possibly regrets for father/ son relationships for all who read it. Knowing your dad he is an inspiration for me ...to have that vigor and to be as active as he is at his age is remarkable. Something that never leaves me about your Dad ( besides the fly rod he built me )is when fishing with him is after that sound of """fhitttt """""of a hookset He always goes !!!Hey Hey Hey!!!!! " I fish therefore I am"
DaddyO Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Thanks for sharing. Looks like you both enjoyed the trip. My Dad is my favorite fishing buddy. I take him fishing as often as he wants to go and count myself fortunate each and every time. He was with me when I landed my largest trout and I was with him when he landed his largest trout. I have 2 brothers that normally fish with us, but on both of these occasions, it was just me and my Dad fishing together. Great Memories! DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.

Members justincarf Posted February 19, 2013 Members Posted February 19, 2013 Great report! Looks like an awesome time. Just like Justin Spencer and CNR said, I hope to be in as great shape to fish when I'm 89 years old, too. Thank you, for sharing! www.thebarblessangler.com
