Sounds like a good time Scott. Jeff, Mrs. BilletHead and I got out this morning in the South Zone. Managed five gadwall. Everything was really over within the first forty-five minutes and then nothing. Layed there until nine, picked up and home we went. We just hunt around home. Ponds and small irragation lakes. Everything is low. Need rain and cooler weather and things will pick up. Will go again in the morning.

Had two great days in the middle zone yesterday and today. Saw lots of ducks, and saw more mallards than I have seen in a wile. (At least in this part of the country.) Most of the ducks yesterday stayed just out of range, but this morning was better. Killed two Mallards and two Gadwalls. Great morning to be out.

I hunted Lower Taney on the opener also. Got out there early and went east of Rockaway Beach. Ended up with 2 banded geese and one gadwall before I left. Brothers stayed out and got 2 more geese and 6 more mallards. Hunted Bull creek Sunday with 4 gaddys and a mallard, then hunted again in Bull Creek yesterday with only one mallard. They are getting smarter quick. Need some nasty weather to bring down new ones.

Hunted Beaver this morning for 3 Buffles and 2 honkers, pretty dismal numbers maybe saw 20 to 30 birds total. Im thinking the full moon phase has them in fields feeding and roosting on nearby ponds. Give us a good front and cold weather and the big waters should be good.

Jeff its always great hunting the family farm, I dont care if i killed a bird just watching the kids and being around the family means so much to me. Nothing better than watching the young ones face plant in muddy buckshot and getting up with a face full of mud and a smile from ear to ear. Birds are a plus but family means everything.
