Thanksgiving Weekend Fishing Trip

Got down to lillys Thursday morning this is the only the second time I have ever been down to taneycomo and it was a blast! I was fly fishing with scuds nymphs below a indicator and caught a lot of fish and hooked in to the biggest fish of my life I would say a 4-5 pound 20 inch brown but I had 6x tippet on and he got in the current and I just couldn't get him close enough to net but it was a blast fighting a fish like that I had the feeling of watching a big buck walking my way. I love how all the fish are a nice size. My normal trout fishing destination is montauk and I love fishing in the fly area and outside the park but fishing Taney is so much better! Cannot wait to come back again in the spring and hopefully land a big fish!

Welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of great people, and good information here. I'm glad you had a good time, and enjoyed Lilley's Landing. It's the best place on Taney, and has been our home away from home in Branson for over 20 years.

I was there last week with my family as well. My son and I caught lots of fish, but no monsters. Just decent sized keepers for the skillet. He, my son-in Law, and a new friend from Louisiana all wanted some "eaters", so I didn't go up in the the trophy area after some "picture" fish as usual. They caught mostly on Gulp eggs, and night crawlers while I caught most of mine on jigs.

If ya saw something big, green, and LOUD, it was us.

Gatorjet - I thought that was you as I was up stream from Trout Hollow listening to the quiet of nature and then I thought I was teleported to a Nascar speedway and expected cars to come around the bend three wide!!!!

As I looked downstrean to see Tony Stewart or Dale I realized that is was just you making your way up the river for some trout :]

I'll piggy back a report from a guest of ours:

Stayed 3 nights on fishing buddy special. The accommodations were excellent as always.

Monday November 26th was windy and cold. Generators were running off and on. Used Super Duper gold & red, olive & white mini jigs. Caught 4 fish off the dock.

Tuesday November 27th used dark green power bait eggs and caught 2 fish. In the afternoon I used night crawlers and caught 3 fish. Fished from the dock.

Tuesday November 27th sunny and warmer. Used pink power bait and caught/released 4 fish. Fished from the dock. Also used the Carolina rig.

Had a great time and will definitely be back. Lilley's Landing is the best!
