Members silvermesa Posted November 29, 2012 Members Posted November 29, 2012 My friend and I want to fish for smallmouth and are considering hiring a guide for our first experience. Considering the Gasconade River but am open to other streams as well. Open to going within the next couple of weeks or in the spring. Recommendations for a good teacher/guide for our first trip? Feel free to describe your day if you have fished with this guide. Thank You!
Justin Spencer Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Brian Sloss does some sweet trips on the Eleven Point, but it will depend on water conditions. PM him and I'm sure he will tell you if it is worth doing or not. If he says it is you will catch some good fish. LittleRedFisherman Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Ditto on Brian Sloss! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Blazerman Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Dennis Whiteside. I haven’t used him as a guide but we have swapped many emails on smallmouth fishing and I have no problem recommending him. I am sure he can guide you on the Gasconade or any other decent smallmouth stream in Missouri or Arkansas. From his website post, he has pretty much guided on all of them at one time or another. www.denniswhiteside.com/
Mitch f Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Corey Cottrell or Nick Hamra, pm me for their contact info for Meramec, both are excellent fisherman Tommy Bench for Gasconade http://www.gasconaderiverguide.com/photos_1.html "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Al Agnew Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 All the above are excellent suggestions. Nick and Corey are as good as it gets for the Meramec, and may also be willing to take you to the Gasconade. Dennis Whiteside is a great guy and excellent guide.
ColdWaterFshr Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Paul Dallas is available only by appointment/deposit of bail bond. Any of the other choices and you will quickly realize you got something much, much less. You get what you pay for people. River fishing is horrible right now, but only Paul has it dialed in with trophy sized fish guarantees.
