drs7558 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 My son recently ask me, " What can I get you for Christmas Dad?" Well heck I don't know. Then it dawned on me. I'm not the kind of guy to spend $30 on a fishing lure, why not a Mega Bass for Christmas? I've heard a lot about the Mega Bass stick bait on Table Rock. I looked on-line but I couldn't figure out which one I would want to use on TR. So I'm turning to Ozark Anglers for a little help. Which one of the Mega Bass stick-baits would I want as a Christmas gift from my son. Thanks for your help.
Jacob W Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Pro blue, Tennessee shad, elegy bone, skeleton Tenn. Shad, the list goes on and on. They are fish catchers and I believe my wife got me some under the tree!
ozarkgunner Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Sportsmans factor outlet has 110 plus ones on sale for 15 bucks. Get two of natural looking colors. Angler At Law
abkeenan Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I'm gonna say buy 3 or 4 Luck E Strike RC STX instead of spending that $ on ONE Megabass. They are almost identical, have some great colors and catch fish. Some people claim that the action is different, or its this or that but I personally all think that is mind games the angler plays on himself. I think guys say the megabass is better because they are trying to justify spending nearly $30 on one bait. Sure megabass work, but I think the Luck E Strikes are just as good IMO. One more thing about megabass.....they are FRAGILE (not Italian). Lots and LOTS of complaints about the bills just breaking off on casts and while working the bait back to the boat.....not hitting any kind of cover, bottom, above water limb...nada. Just breaking outta nowhere. Megabass also will not replace them and I have heard nothing but bad things about their customer service. If you are truly wanting one then by all means get one. But being that you said you are not the $30 lure type guy you would be heart broken when on your 4th cast it becomes a useless bait with its bill cracked off. Spro McSticks are also a heck of a bait and less than half the price of a megabass. They are my favorite jerkbait actually.
ozarkgunner Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 $15 for a $30 bait is hard to beat. I have both and will take the megabass any day. Angler At Law
smbasser Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 In a megabass you can't go wrong with ITO natural or elegy bone. I own 31 megabass and have 2 with broken bills due to bad casts. I have 7 rc stix and have 3 broken bills. On another note, I purchased 2 of the smaller rc stix last weekend and floated the James river. Within an hour, both the bills were broke. One from a fish and the other from simply landing on the cast. I won't buy anymore of them. Did connect with this fish near Delaware town access before the bill broke
ozarkgunner Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I won't name my fav. Color but it is new this year and has glitter. Get the plus one! Angler At Law
ozarkgunner Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Nice fish! If she was near the bridge I have hooked her and let her go 2 years back. The tail spot is distinct. Angler At Law
