This was my first winter trip down to Taneycomo and my girlfriends first trip there. We arrived Saturday afternoon and decided to put the boat in and dock it at Lilleys. She wanted to see the dam right away so we headed up in the truck to find out it was pretty crowded but it was nice out. So we decided to take the boat out and head above fall creek. I was fishing with my fly rod and she was throwing spoons, rooster tails and cranks. I caught several on a white jig and a cream colored one. She had a couple on but never landed one. It was getting dark out so we headed back and talked to a few people who said the were doing good with jigs also.

Sunday morning came early for me. I woke up before sunlight to head on down solo (she wanted to sleep in) When I got down there no one else was there so I decided to get ready and wait for a little sunlight. Walked down and seen tons of trout rising so I put on a crackleback and caught several stripping. About every third cast I would have to dip the rod in the water because the guides were frozen. After I found out my fingers were freezing I decided it was time to fish with an indicator and tied on a chamois with a size 16 olive scud. Caught a couple more and only one on the scud. Headed back to Lilleys around 10 to take the boat out with Lyndsey and headed back up passing several boats. Went all the way up by the island and fished with zebra midges and was doing just alright so I went back to the white jig and did way better. Lyndsey only landed one on a black and olive jig. But it still felt like it got up to around 50 and sunny and it felt amazing. When we motored back down we seen 3 eagles which made the trip right there for her.

Monday it was raining when I woke up so we decided to sleep in and head out around 10ish. I went to outlet #2 with just a chamois tied on with no indicator and tore them up. I caught 6 in 8 drifts including a nice 16" brown. Looking around I didn't see Lyndsey so I headed up to the dam figuring she would be throwing the cast master up there and as I rounded the bend she had one on. She told me that she already caught 3. So I watched her fish for a few minutes and seen her get snagged on a rock so I grabbed the rod and she picked up my fly rod and casted it out no more than 15' and caught her first brown in her life.

Tuesday was our last day there and after we packed up and hooked the boat up it was already almost party time. We got down there to only find Duane there and he was just setting up and we all headed down to go fishing. Still fishing with the chamois and scud it was slower than Monday and she didn't hook up to anything. Duane went up to cook the tasty duck poppers as we went to outlet #1 and she caught the first fish of the "year" so she said a few times. Right after that I caught a nice size rainbow on the scud. It was about 1130 so we decided it was time to head back to the pavilion to meet up with people. She stayed up there for an hour and went back fishing as I stayed to visit. I went down there to go get her and she wanted that "1 more cast" so then about 10 minutes later she caught a rainbow and said she was ready to go. I said your okay on leaving with the last cast being a fish? She said yep so we went back to the pavilion to say our good byes.

This was also my first weekend down there with a boat (except when Phil took me out) and was hoping they would be running water and we finally got 2 units on the last day! I have a couple pictures but I'm on the phone considering I haven't made it home quite yet. Some walleyes were calling my name.
