fishinwrench Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Most "productive" foam trout flies..... #14 beetle, and #18 spanker ant. There's something about black foam and peacock heel next to each other that triggers takes.
podum Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Wrench, how do you tie the beetle? With the herl exposed on the shank under the foam? I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
fishinwrench Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Wrench, how do you tie the beetle? With the herl exposed on the shank under the foam? Yeah, and 4 rubber legs, and a little piece of yellow foam on top so I can see it.
Members Sheldon Fernando Posted January 13, 2013 Author Members Posted January 13, 2013 Really like the butt beetle That looks fishy. Thanks! This one really surprised us. Trout seemed to like it better than any standard beetle that we tried. They seemed to like the one in this picture best, which used red super hair as the rib/antennae.
dennis boatman Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 ..is a hook threaded through an orange indicator a fly? If so, that's my fav... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
