JohnP Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Finally got into some birds that actually wanted to play. Had the opportunity to be limited out by 8:30.but thanks to the fine shooting exhibition put on by all involved we were only able scratch out 14 by 11am before we decided to call it. All gaddies, didn't see a single mallard and only seen one small flock of gwt before shooting light. Did see a few hooded mergs but never really offered us a shot. All in all had a good morning spent with good friends and so far has been the best hunt I've had this season.
duckydoty Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I was wondering when it would happen. Lower Taney has been holding a decent number of gadwals for a week now. They've got to be looking for some safe water. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
JohnP Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Been seeing them for about a week now, just couldn't get them to work worth a darn. With the lack of cover and birds that have been around for alil while they pick out things that don't look right quick, like the bumps on the mud flats that weren't there before .
duckydoty Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Every piece of duck hunting equipment I own is completely covered in mud. It's all starting to blend in pretty good to the surrounding areas I've been hunting. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 6, 2013 Root Admin Posted January 6, 2013 That's a framable picture... awesome!
JohnP Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Thanks Phil. I think I can handle the mud on the equiptment better than all the sand that seems to find its way into everything.
BilletHead Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Nice hunt John P. Gadwall are good, I got two Friday morning on a Sac river hunt setting up on a riffle. They made a nice dinner that evening. Mud you say Duane? hahahah Still iced in on ponds but when the frost and slight freeze goes off the fields it is yucky here too.
