Spinning rod (dropshot, shaky head) 6lb BPS mono (green). You can get about 10 miles of it for cheap, and I've yet to have a problem with it in any way. Take care of it, use the KVD stuff, and change it out occasionally.

Topwater: 14- 17 green BPS mono.

Flipping/pitching: I fish Truman/LOZ often. Used to use 17-20lb P Line. Had trouble finding a fluorocarbon I could get used to. Spooled up this summer with 20lb Sufix castable invisiline. Absolutely love it. Strong, not too stiff. Good stuff.

FB jig: usually on TRock I use 12 fluorocarbon (whatever name brand on sale). Next year I will definitely be trying the Sufix fluorocarbon in 12lb.

Wart: 10lb fluorocarbon.

Spinnerbait, squarebill, buzzbait: 14-20 green BPS mono. (Again, cheap and hasn't given me a problem).

This year, I'll be trying the Sufix fluorocarbon for everything except the topwater stuff. May even give it a whirl on the sissy wand. It comes in 5 & 7lb.

I like Suffix. I've had many hangups an d snags that I would have bet money I needed a retie due to rough abrasions. I was wrong. Its small dia. line but tough! Little line memory and come out when it does occur when drug behind boat. Recently I've been trying Segaur Red Label flouro. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

Anyone ever break off with good quantity 10lb on fish? I haven't lost a fish on fresh 10 lb test in years.

Nope........but I get a LOT more bites on 6 lb Fluoro on spinning gear on the finesse stuff:-).........just loosen that drag and tire them out. Sure you may lose a few going that light, but I feel like I make up for a lost fish with more bites.

The 6lb out performed the 8lb by 5 to 1. Same bait. Same spot, same presentation. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

I have seen the same thing trout fishing. Dropping from 4lb to 2 lb makes a difference.

I was VERY apprehensive dropping down to that size myself, but all I can say is just give it try. It really forces you to know where your drag is set.

I'm not much of a fan of Bassmaster magazine anymore; but I happened to read the cover article by Aaron Martens this month about drop shotting; and found it very interesting. He talks about even using 4 lb test in clear water..........I haven't gotten that brave yet!:-)

I use Maxima for all of my mono. Love the green! As far as flouro, I use Berkley 100%, but I back it with about 1/3-1/2 spool of mono so I can use the flouro on more reels and not break the bank.

Sunline Super FC Sniper Fluoro for everything except Topwaters. It's a little expensive, but it's fantastic line.
