troutgnat Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Dtrs, I own a 89' Ranger 374V. In my opinion one of the best hulls ever. She's a smooth ride. Anyway, I have a whole thread with pics on the bassboatcentral.com forum under the bassboat restoration thread header. It's titled 89' Ranger 374V full restoration. Here's a couple of pics to get you started. I should put this under a new thread. Some guys might find it interesting. It will explain where I've been for the last year and 3 months. Here's a pic of original and latest(just before heading to shop for rewiring). Darren Sadler "Fishing is an Education...Often the fish 'school' me, yet I do not complain. I just keep going to class!"
Members CanoeBoy Posted March 17, 2013 Members Posted March 17, 2013 Went to the seminar about how to crappie fish provided by Missouri Conservation department and decided I was going to need sonar. Great seminar by the way for any unexperienced crappie fisherman. I would recommend checking out the website from the Missouri Conservation Department, especially if you are new to Table Rock Lake. I have a 16 ft canoe and was wondering if any kayakers or canoe anglers have a recommended sonar system that they use. I was planning on mounting the transducer directly on the trolling motor that is mounted in the rear of the canoe. Anybody have good results from a similar setup or a better way to do it?
Dutch Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I'll stick with the structure scan. I've never seen this definition on any 2 d sonar.
Members Kenny Gann Posted March 18, 2013 Members Posted March 18, 2013 I got a 597ci HD DI on my boat and like the other guys say it was the best I could afford at the time and I love it. Also got a HB 141c. The mount heads on HB's are interchangeable so I moveem around depending on what im fishin for. I use 597 on front for dropshottin and it works great you can see the fish swim right up to the bait and get it. When my son is with me I let him sit up front and watch the graph and he loves it. Everybody knows when you take kids fishing if there not catching anything they get bored in a hurry. This thing helps me keep my boys interested and thats priceless for me. 597 has DI but i don't use it that often I use Real Time on the right and 2d on the left. Works awsome. I did buy a navionics chip for the 597 and it is great. You can split the screen and pull up to a cove or point and look at contour, move cursor to where you wanna go push go-to and drive right to it. Helps me do more fishin and less lookin. A color screen is a plus I think It lets me tell what's what by using colors.
Billfo Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Wow that is cool ! This is sitting stationary ? Is "structure scan" the same as "down Imaging". If that really is a shark, I wont be swimming there anymore... I'll stick with the structure scan. I've never seen this definition on any 2 d sonar. Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
