Brian Wise Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Hey guys, The newest video in the Rich Strolis Series is the Headbanger Sculpin. Keeping up with Rich on Facebook he is TEARING IT UP with these things. I do feel like there has to be a warning with these things though....they aren't for the faint of heart and you better wear a helmet when you fish them but they go straight to the bottom and stay there....just like a sculpin should. Recipe: Hook - Gamakatsu SL11 #2 Flash - Holographic Flashabou Tail - Marabou (2 colors, palmered) Hackle - Schlappen Body - Cactus Chenille Rubber Legs Wing - Craft Fur (Strolis calls for Arctic Fox) Front Hook: Hook - Gamakatsu B10s #1 Flash Tail - Marabou Hackle - Schlappen Body - Cactus Chenille Rubber Legs Wing - Craft Fur Collar - Laser Dub Head - Sculpin Helmet Top it off with Clear Cure Goo Hydro My Youtube Channel
mic Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Awesome, I think I'm going to try that on a jig head.
Brian Wise Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Awesome, I think I'm going to try that on a jig head. GREAT idea! Let me know how it goes threading the helmet over the bend, because it seems to me that you are on to something. My Youtube Channel
mic Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Brian, Know your busy, but any chance you can show us how you prepped and loaded the marabou. It is harder then it looks. Mine is wrapping up tight to the hook instead of lose like yours. I figured it out. I was tying in to much material to start with. I made a mean looking jig that would represent a sculpin or a craw. Can't wait to try it out.

It is actually easier to strip the bottom of the stem clean of any feathers and wrap them from there as the fibers on the top of the stem want to get trapped under the wraps, but if you take your time you can make sure all of the feathers are not getting trapped.
