Danoinark
Gonefishin...good one. But the only shufflers I have seen are those with fly rods in hand. Don
When I was out at the San Juan, I spent some time visiting a semi retired fly shop owner. He discussed the San Juan Shuffle. He stated that even if you were standing perfectly still in the river, a game warden will write you a ticket if he felt that you were casting at fish you can see at a short distance directly downstream. He also mentioned that the best the best way to minimize shuffling is to shut up. I asked what he meant and he stated someone yelled at somebody shuffling and it drew attention to others, indicating that there's a way they can finally catch some fish. Also, he stated to stop writing about it(like I'm doing now)because people who read articles in papers, forums, etc, realize that it is a way that they can improve their catch rate. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Members SLIPPERY SI
well i must confess....i have dropped my fly and indicator 5 feet upstream from my feet to watch my fly action...half was to check the action the other half was fishing for 5 hours straight and not catching a darn thing...so i do apologize, yet i never did shuffle!!! now i was down there about 3 weeks ago and had a father a two sons "shuffling" the father was staying in one place across the river....while the two kids zigzaged up and down from the wire to outlet 1 catching fish hand over fist!!! i was pissed but at the same time i thought "let the kids have their fun" maybe they will learn sportsmanship later on!! Ham
Is trout fishing generally fairly easy at Taneycomo ? How many rainbows are stocked annually at Taneycomo ? Do the shufflers catch monster Browns or stocker Rainbows ? Should PowerBait, corn, and red wigglers be outlawed since so many trout get gut hooked by anglers fishing those baits ? gonefishin
Is trout fishing generally fairly easy at Taneycomo ? Usually fairly easy but getting harder. How many rainbows are stocked annually at Taneycomo ? Not nearly as many as their used to be. Do the shufflers catch monster Browns or stocker Rainbows ? I rarely see shufflers but when I do they mostly catch stockers. At least that is what I see. Should PowerBait, corn, and red wigglers be outlawed since so many trout get gut hooked by anglers fishing those baits ? If they outlaw shuffling then I see nothing to stop them from outlawing any and all natural bait fishing. I would rather be fishin'. griffin
Since shuffling is done primarily by people using flyrods wouldn't it just be easier to outlaw the flyrods? griffin
gonefishin
Nah that'd make it to easy. If flyrods were outlawed there would not be an ethical delima. To shuffle or not to shuffle that is the question. Its the same type of thing as smoking but not inhaling. People who can smoke and not inhale are on a higher ethical plane than people who inhale. Same thing with fly fishing. If a person can resist the temptation to shuffle while fly fishing then he/she is in a spiritually good place. Of all the trails in life there is only one of the true human being and he/she who can fly fish without shuffling is on the trail of being a true human being. I would rather be fishin'. Members Larry Murphy
I see it plenty in the trout parks, some guys strictly fish the "scud monkey dance" method....or so we call it. I was looking at a trailer to purchase and noticed the guy had 6 or 8 realy nice trout on his wall. Was impressed, until I ran into him in Zone 2. Found him fishing with a 4' leader of 8 or 10 pound test line, and had on a huge red and white maribou jig with a shotgun cleaning patch on the hook. I think the "gut fisherman" are no different than the shufflers. Matching the hatch doesn't include white gun patches and digging in the gravel! That's no different than going to the grocery store and buying trout filets....
crappiefisherman
Thats why i like to crappie fish. You dont see them, you have to figure out for yourself where they are and your feet stay dry. Then you can go to your house and shuffle some cards and drink sodas with your friends [ [
