TSmith
I love wade fishing in small streams and fishing the deep pools (4-5 ft max usually) What types of flies would work the best for that type of fly fishing? Iv noticed that when Im not fly fishing I have a ton of luck with an Eakins Jig with an Eakins Craw and 4 inch plastic worms. What flies would resemble those lures? I believe that fishing is usually better when there is a full moon. People are more crazy when there is a full moon. Thank God He made fish the way He did so I can have better fishing when people are crazier than normal.
moguy1973
Hair jig craws and 4" San Juan worms. Also for shallow water like that I'd try any sort of foam hopper or popper. Clouser minnows in shad colors should work well too. Just remember to snap it! -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

moguy1973
What size hooks on the craw and worm? Looks like a 3X or 4X streamer hook for the worm ( http://www.northarkansasflyfisher.org/Tech13.html ) 1/16 oz jig head for the hair jig ( http://funcfish.com/2011/04/doing-the-crayfish-jig/ ) -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Gavin
If I'm picking flies out at a shop...I look for flies with an adequate hook gap (3/8" minimum). You'll want some sliders (The Chartruese Gaine's Sneaky Petes in size 2 is perfection), flat faced popper with rubber legs, pencil poppers & some minnow patterns that fish at different depths (3-5" range)..plus some dark colored stuff to drag on the bottom 3-4" range. Wayne SW/MO
Wooly buggers are always effective. The trick is to fish the bottom and if you don't lose a few you probably aren't where you should be. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman. Outside Bend
Working the bottom is probably the most productive, but seeing the fish smash on top may be the most fun. Youll want to cover as much of the water column as you can, and you can make it as simple or as complicated as you want. Cover the bqsic food items - crayfish, bottom- dwelling sculpins/ recmadtoms/darters, and midwater baitfish, and you should do fine. Id recommend gurglers, foam and deerhair sliders, as well as heavier, drab patterns imitating bottom dwelling food items. Cant go wrong with marabou, bunny fur, webby hackle and rubber legs. <{{{><
