hey guys, starting to search out for areas for the spring snow geese, didn't see much on the old threads, so being new to the area, im wondering if there any places close to branson area that the snows stop at. like within 1 hour or so? ( in Missouri or Arkansas ) something a guy could hunt a day at a time. otherwise I will have to plan on going up to the squaw creek area. I was up there last year for 2 days learning the area, nodaway valley and bob brown. shot a few birds, had fun seeing a lot of birds. when I lived in WI. I chased them in South Dakota, so I know that area ,but that's a long haul now! ( 13 hrs ) I haven't been to the 4-rivers, Montrose area yet, is that any good? any info would be great! thanks.

Thousands of geese have been flying up the east side of the state for over a week now. I first noticed flocks moving north last Friday on the first. Many flocks flew over yesterday after noon and were still going after dark. You could hear them squaking and peeping till I went in the house.

Best bet close to Branson would be the 4 Rivers, Schell-Osage area. I've seen quite a few of them up there during duck season.

Jeff, if you catch them right there's a window to hunt them in Barton and Vernon county. I can't speak for East of here. I've never tried it over there. I'd say probably right now if you went driving around.

Just got back from a funeral in SE AR and there are still 100's of thousands of snows down there, They were not in staging groups yet and very happy eating until somone with evil intentions decided to introduce them to a Browing extended tube :) Probably 2 weeks before they start showing up in numbers in Western Mo.

Just got back from the mound city area. there was a fair #s of birds there so I did not have to go to SD, hunted 4 days and shot 22 snows, had a good time, and got rid of the itch, for a while anyways! I guess there are over 3 million birds in the rain water basin in Nebraska if anyone is heading that way.
