Members Dollar Bill Posted February 18, 2013 Members Posted February 18, 2013 Put in at Hartley ramp (Old St. Park) about 10 and was really surprised to have the lot full! It was apparent a tourny had put out of there. My main goal was to play with a new graph and look for those white bass Bob the guide mentioned were being caught there. By midday there were at least 10 boats in that cove chasing the shad schools around. From what I saw there were some fish caught, mostly small crappie and smaller whites. The fish being caught came off of the bottom in 30 - 35 FOW. The temp stayed around 43 all day. The wind made it hard to stay on top of the shad but when you could you caught some fish. I had my best luck on a 1/8 oz feather jig but saw them caught on minnows and other small shad imitators. The bite was not good and sloooow was the key. All in all any day in mid February on the lake is a bonus day! ps. the bass tourny got off at 4 and there were several bags weighed and I saw a few limits... no details. have fun and be safe, bill Is this fun or what!
9LB Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Bill - Is the old state park the ramp across the road from the Current State park ?
waterpossum Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Any report of walleye moving into the dam area. Should be very close to that time.
straw hat Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I don't know but I have heard of a few being caught around CC as well as the 39 bridge.
frying eyes Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Straw Hat, is there a boat ramp at 39? I've never been that far down that side of the lake. Looks like it gets pretty skinny down there, looking at the map. Thanks in advance!
straw hat Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 There is a ramp there. As you approach from the south there is a small section of the old highway that goes down to the lake on the right. There is not much room to launch there and only room for a few boats to park. I haven't been there since the low water so I don't know if the water is too low to launch. I suspect it may be. Hopefully the lake level will get better sooner than latter.
Walcrabass Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Everybody, The ramp on 39 at Son's Creek is completely out of the water. I don't believe even with a smaller boat and a four wheel drive truck you could launch there as the bottom is pure mush and water is very shallow. There is basically no water on the West side of the bridge and very little on the East side. On top of that I am not fond of the ramp area there as it is extremely secluded from view by people passing through on 39 HWY. Looks like a great place to get your vehicle damaged when there are not a lot of people using the ramp. Sorry to give so much gloom and doom......just don't want anybody stuck or boats damaged.
frying eyes Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Thanks for the info! I was thinking about going there this weekend.

This pic is from west of the bridge this time last year.If it is dry,,now would be a good time to anchor some big brush piles.
