Gavin Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Hank I just had an idea......Get really long piece of stout rope, arrive at Suicide Hill, tie one end of the rope to the canoe and the other to your truck or an ATV and drag that boat up the hill gear and all! Let us know how it works ;>)!
Terry Beeson Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Gavin, You've been watchin' "Country Fried Videos" with Bill Engvall, haven't you.... ("Here's yer sign...") TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
shawncat Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Call the office at the springs and ask which canoe outfitter puts in at the campground right below the bridge.Last summer I saw them launching red canoes there{maybe Greens canoe rental} I don't know if I would backpack in from Woodson K. Woods{cardiac, suicide}It's a dayuse area no overnight parking or it used to be.You supposedly can camp on river gravel bars if accessed by boat.Good luck.
hank franklin Posted November 24, 2006 Author Posted November 24, 2006 Uh, to answer my own question: NO CANOE ACCESS AT SUICIDE. To try it would be, as they say, stoooopid. Finally hit the stream, first time in quite a while. Lot easier to get down the bluff than to get up it. Stream was in fine shape, fishing was a bit slow but the ones we caught had some size to them. Beautiful day. Very easy to get to Dry Fork confluence by the way. Had a bald eagle soar directly overhead while I was in the river. Scared up some whitetails in the brush below Suicide on return trip. I'm sure it's the Wal-Mart of stream fishing down there today.
Members Griffster Posted November 26, 2006 Members Posted November 26, 2006 I floated from Hwy 8 to Scotts today. Every time I make that float once you get pass the good water I swear the wind kicks up and trys to drive you up river. What is it with that float and the wind...makes those last couple of miles even worse. But I'm getting a little smarter in my old age too.. We took a trolling motor today.. just to get thru that dead water in the lower sections. Man that sure does help. Put in at 7am off the river at 2:30 pm. If not for that trolling motor I would still be paddeling. Fishing was OK... caught some decent smallies up there? Kind of unusual? The trout are hard to come by on the second half of that float it seems too? Does anyone do any good with trout towards Scotts Ford. I sure don't. A canoe and Suicide or Cardiac..is CRAZY!!!! Hey Al? Is your spinner bait legal up there? If your not targeting the trout? Probably not... but I wished I would have had my other tackle today. Season kicks off Tueday for my little guy. Hopefully he stays healthy and has a good year. If you can keep 12/16 open. He plays in Perryville 5:30pm. I'll buy you a beer after the game.

Maybe MDC should blow up the bluff and make a nice canoe access there. I like how the good water is all wade-able from Cardiac / Suicide. But you can't backpack in a cooler of Busch. The only downside to my wading expedition there this week was after I caught a nice 17-incher I didn't have a beer waiting. Maybe that can be the next thread--can you backpack in a 12-pack down Suicide hill?
snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 To answer your last question, yes. SIO3
