Hojo Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Planning on hitting the lake Friday. Anybody heard anything? What is the water clarity like up river from the hwy 12 bridge? Got a brother n law coming in that I would like to get some action. I hope this weather picks the bite up some.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 The Rumor line has it everything is moving shallow and starting to bite, apparently the influx of water and warming temps have sparked the fish to get going! Even had a Nasty text message of a top-water striper bite forming the text in question really should be more careful of background in it. Several were main lake but did have a conversation that Walleye are stacked around Point12 and Crappie had moved up to 8 to 12 fow from point 12 to Hickory Creek but no talk of whites yet. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Hojo Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 Thanks for the info. Any word on water clarity in the river arm? Good bite or not, I can't pass up a day like this coming Friday. Gotta be getting active. I enjoy a good jerkbait bite but ready to throw something else. I usually don't seek out the whites but will fish them if I stumble upon 'em.
Sore Thumbs Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Been a couple of weeks but i fished at Horseshoe area for a bit and it was pretty stained. This was before recent rain. I would think its pretty stained. I talked to a guy who said walleyes are way up the river. I would check 412 to neals bluff area if you are looking for Eyes and Whites
Sore Thumbs Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Unless heavy flow pushed them back toward main lake.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Two words for this weekend ( MUD LINE ) Find it fish it and enjoy it. Myself Im torn between doing that and Run and Gun birds. This could be a great weekend. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Wildeye Posted March 14, 2013 Members Posted March 14, 2013 I am headed that way tomorrow from western OK, will be camping of for a total of 11 nights! Sounds like the stripers are tough right now, but I will still target them. Rivers sound like they are choc milk, but the war eagle will clear before too long. I am hoping to camp at PC, but they only have 9 winter campgrounds open. Gonna drive up there first and if no luck will head back down to horseshoe and opperate out of there for the week. Looking forward to it, will be in a blue blue wave if anyone sees a couple guys and a bunch of rods give us a wave, run a marine radio on 18 if anyone has it on. Cant wait!
npierceuark Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Walked in upstream from Neil's bluff tonight and struck out. Water is cold, thermostat said 45 and slightly stained. Threw just about everything in the bag and caught 3 small LMs. Water was movin quick, about 1.5 ft high on the river. Another week of warm temps and no cold rains would help a lot but the extended forecast didn't look promising. Hoping for the best and planning for the worst.
jeb Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Went out from about 3-6pm yesterday. Fished mid-lake area, larger coves. Water was a little stained, but seems to not be a lot different than before the rain. Temps about 45. The fish I caught, mostly nice K's, were full to the gills on crawfish. Puking them out on the deck kind of full. Rocky points, about 10' deep or so. Most of my fish came on jigs but I did catch a couple of the smaller STX jerk bait, too. What size and color were those crawfish? curious
