Members chima47 Posted April 27, 2013 Members Posted April 27, 2013 10,000 bass stocked in Windsor Lake at least twice. Where does it go?

And I do, my buddy just moved to BV and is having a ball catching fish. http://mdc.mo.gov/landwater-care/stream-and-watershed-management/missouri-watersheds/elk-river/biotic-community/table-6Ummmm... your treasured document's latest listing is 15 years old... and if you'll look in the right hand column, it was the AGFC that did the stocking, not the MDC. Neither the AGFC nor the MDC sells fish to anyone. Using state funds to stock private waters is controversial, but since an Arkansas license is required to fish there, the argument that the large number of Arkansas licensed anglers that fish there deserve attention is valid too. I can't dance like I used to.
bfishn Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 10,000 bass stocked in Windsor Lake at least twice. Where does it go?Some of them end up in the bellys of the big channel cat that live there. Some of them end up in Little Sugar Creek, displacing the native smallmouth. Some of them live to be caught by a BV fisherman who bought a license and paid his dues. I fished there for a lot of years. Some times it's good and sometimes it sucks. Just like anywhere else. I can't dance like I used to.
Members chima47 Posted April 27, 2013 Members Posted April 27, 2013 Well, I found a different chart a few years ago - looked like MDC had stocked the fish . . . my point still being that the lakes are stocked . . . even though those lists are old, BV stockings get published in papers every now and again. But the point of AGFC stocking the lakes goes back to my frustration of the POA and the residents who run folks off - even when they are leasing in BV and state funds are used to stock the lakes. Who am I? Nobody. But soon the POA will be gone and how will BV keep the folks off the lakes? I love articles that quote residents who are afraid of things becoming public. I am one that believes all men are created equal but the attitudes carried by a lot of non-natives and retirees makes me wonder if they know their poop does stink.
Guest Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 10,000 bass stocked in Windsor Lake at least twice. Where does it go? Ask Darrell Bowman, the BV fisheries biologist. I'm sure he can answer your question. I know they have bought threadfin shad in the past. I doubt that he stocked that many LMB in Windsor bc it has one of the best populations of LMB.

BV buys their own fish, its private. Do you believe everything you read in a newspaper, you might want to check your source. I pay my dues and Im an Arkansas Native. So don't generalize that everyone is from out of state unless you intend to offend the man who's thread was hijacked by yourself. They pay their dues just like the rest of us. Some years its a pain in the pocketbook, but I enjoy the redear & catfish as much as the bass. So, what's got you so bent out of shape anyways?
bfishn Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 ...But the point of AGFC stocking the lakes goes back to my frustration of the POA and the residents who run folks off - even when they are leasing in BV and state funds are used to stock the lakes... I have shared your pain on that one, but a poorly communicated fact is that tenants can obtain long term "Renter Guest" priviledges simply by having the property owner request it (you'll still pay your fees); "Those who are “Renter Guests” by virtue of a written request from the property owner, and which verifies that the property will be occupied by the renter for 90 days or more, which request can be withdrawn by the property owner at any time. Such Renter Guests (and their resident family members) may have access to POA amenities upon presentation of a “Renter Guest” photo-ID card, valid until the termination date of the rental agreement or lease, obtainable from Member services. Renter guests will not have access to annual fee programs but will pay “Sponsored Guest” fees." Being a "non-typical" user in my younger years, I too had plenty of encounters with members who questioned my right to be there, often in an extremely rude way. I just bit my lip and offered a brief but polite explanation, and that was that. Nowdays I just fish the public waters, even though if I curled into a ball I could roll right off my deck, down the holler a piece, and into one of the lakes. It's just not good enough to be worth the hassle and the money, and I never get that "you don't belong" feeling on public waters. I can't dance like I used to.
Quillback Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Yeah just get the renter-guest ID and you can fish the lakes. There haven't been any LMB stockings in years, in spite of the heavy pressure the bass do a good job of reproducing. There have been crappie, catfish and redear stocked from surplus produced by AGFC hatcheries. But if you have a problem with that you should take it up with the AGFC, you'll get nowhere complaining about it in this forum. Trout stocking has been paid for out of POA funds, so has threadfin shad stocked a couple of years ago. I shouldn't waste any more time on this, but the "elites" and "non-natives" that live here are folks who worked hard and long to earn their retirement, teachers, police, firefighters, nurses, doctors, lawyers, farmers, factory workers, military who served their country for 20-30 years and small business owners. I'm sure it's possible to run into a rude Bella Vista retiree, it's happened to me, but I find that if I'm courteous and respectful to folks they'll usually treat me in the same manner. I was always taught to have respect for my elders, but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
Members chima47 Posted April 27, 2013 Members Posted April 27, 2013 Well, was giving folks a hard time because it absolutely cracks me up the way we've been run off the creek and my buddy who rents was given a hard time by the POA because he had his dog in the water on Lake Ann. And I was given permission by another friend who lives there to use his card to fish and yet they tell me to pay a fee and it wouldn't matter even if he was with me that I can't fish there by myself because I don't own property. I told them politely to leave me be and if I was trespassing to call the police which they didn't. I was also walking a trail with my kids and the POA asked for my membership card and I asked why - told me they were just checking. Told them I didn't know we needed a card to walk paved trails not on the golf courses. I shop there and watch movies and eat in that town. My taxes then go to the town. Therefore, I should be able to at least enjoy something in that town. I ride at Blowing Springs and am expecting them to run me off from there too.
