magicwormman Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Took my grandson and his buddy up the James yesterday, in search of the elusive white bass. We went almost to Blunk were the current was strong and the water was brown........couldn't hold the 20 ft Ranger so deceided to drift back down for a mile or two. The whites proved to be very elusive.......after a couple hours of that game, we deceided to go chase a few LM..............ended the day with a few small kentucky's. We only saw one white caught. My favorite line................shouda been here last week. We did watch the DOC net a bunch of spoonbill on the James near Bridgeport. That proved to be entertaining watching them wrestle with those big spoons. Hope to see you all on Saturday.............if we don't get snowed in. Tight lines and God Bless!!!
duckydoty Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 That had to be cool watching them net the spoonies. Do you know what they were doing with them? Tagging and releasing? Collecting eggs? A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
magicwormman Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Looked to me like they were just collecting data on length, girth, and maybe some possible tagging. They were releasing the spoons fairly fast as they were bringing them in.
Members gone fishn Posted March 20, 2013 Members Posted March 20, 2013 Saw you watching the DOC, we were in an older ranger by the bank crappie fishing. Couldn't belive how many they got in one net . Fishing wasn't very good for us also, we had 11 crappie and 2 whites.
SRV1990 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 "shouda been here last week"... Story of my life! "You can always justify putting off a decision... but you can't put off the results of indecision."
Bill Babler Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 White bass this time of the year, can be very frustrating. Very, very seldon to they bite all day or for that matter feed on a consistant basis. Most often it is spurts in certain locations and you have to be right there. Some may not feed at all or not even everyday when they are making this spawing run. Its very hard to schedule trips for them as a guide, as they are just about as inconsistant as any fish that swims. YOu just have to keep goin. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Good Luck Well said, and so true, usually we won't hear about the trips that come up with little or no catchs, especially after posting you just slayed them. Sometimes you just get lucky.
Josh Holt Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Unless your me then they just jump in the boat lol . No in all trueth the fish this time of year are hard to pattern and some times just simply have lock jaw.
