duckydoty Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 A rosy red King next to a bright and fresh chromer The Rapids on the Naknek River, time and time again, produces monster rainbows during the smolting action A fresh king on the Naknek. The kings start running about the 3rd week of June till the end of July. At Brooks Camp waiting for guests to get done with "Bear Etiquette" class in a "Bear Free" zone. This is at Yantarni Salmon Camp. It is located on the Pacific Coast side of the Aleutian Mountains. The salmon carving was done by me with a chainsaw on a whale jaw bone that I found on the beach. The jaw bone was over 12 feet long. Sept 1st is the start of waterfowl season in Alaska I spend a lot of time in the Rapids of the Naknek River from June through the end of August chasing big bows Want some more???? All the tents have wood floors, beds with mattresses linens and duvets, electrical outlets and wood stoves. The camp has heated showers and flushing toilets. Not too shabby for being 100 miles from closest road. Late August and early Sept on the upper Naknek is a great time for the monsters of the monster bows.
