Wayne SW/MO Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I might do it, depends on the weather. I'll likely bring my solo. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Terrierman Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I checked with the war department, and I am in. I live in Ozark and have been on the NFOTW a grand total of one time in a boat and that was a long time ago. Looking forward to learning more about that river. Tell me where I'm figuring wrong with what follows. 1. Drive over Friday night and meet up, set up and sleep. My truck has a topper set up for me to camp in and out of. 2. Get up early on Saturday, eat something and go float and fish. I'll bring my canoe as I like to solo. Watch you guys that know the river and copycat a little bit and also try to learn a little bit about how to fly fish. I'm 61 and got my first fly fishing outfit for my birthday this year. I can work a fly rod (cast) reasonably well but don't know jack about actually fishing with one. 3. Get to where we're going and eat and sleep again. 4. Go home Sunday AM. I'll bring my canoe on a 18' flatbed and can defiinitely help with the shuttle. More than happy to bring food or kick in some $$ to help out. I'm a bad assed dutch oven cook but only have one. I can do some biscuits and gravy for breakfast, ribs and beans for dinner or what have you. Let me know what to bring please. Thanks for putting this up. Best to you. Rick.
Justin Spencer Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Glad you are going to make it Rick. We'll look at water levels at the time, if you want to wade fish we need it to be below 800 cfs or so. I would encourage you to hop in a driftboat one day, this is a super easy way to fly fish as long as you can cast 3 feet. Probably want to use spinning gear while floating in your canoe. Biscuits and gravy sounds awesome for a breakfast, I'll have pot and baking sheets, and we'll get you some money if you want to get the stuff. Otherwise let me know and I can get ingredients. Terrierman Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I can cast 3 feet. I make the sausage here at the place and really only need some idea of for how many. Again, thanks, looking forward to it.
On The Fly 6 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Looks like its at 1500 cfs right now if I read the graph right. That pretty high? It's great fishing from a boat, wading near impossible, bring spinning gear in case it stays this high. Wayne SW/MO Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 How hard is it to fish up river from Tecumseh Justin? I'm thinking whites as you can imagine, maybe even a big white. Do you have to float down from Dawt, or is it not that far up to Bryant? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Do you have to float down from Dawt, or is it not that far up to Bryant? There is a shoal just above the bridge where a lot are caught. I bet you could get somebody to do a driftboat float down from either dawt or Cook's on Bryant, if they are running good a half day on trout and an evening float for whites would sure be tempting. My buddy Brandon keeps on top of the whites/stripers, so I bet he'd be willing to go also, he has a driftboat as well.
