I've had a drift boat, in OR, and there's no doubt they're fishing machines. I made a trip in the one you had Justin and the only thing was that I thought the level was barely enough, but yet McKee was all but too low? Did I miss something?

I think you started at Hammond well above rainbow spring, water much lower up there.

Next, it does suck having McKee because you are right about wanting high flows.

It helps having a good rower, and not a boat full of water as well. :-)

Justin is exactly right and its looking like there is going to be a lot of room. The only catch is my boat is beer operated so make sure you bring plenty of fuel to feed the engine.

Very good point Sean, you should always keep your captain hydrated, for safety reasons.

So you're saying leave the Mad River at home but still bring the trailer, just load it with beer instead?

We did have 3 on board. I have a lot of time on the sticks, but it was tough finding a clean line or water to maneuver in up above.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Hey Justin,

I've actually never fished out of a drift boat before... I've always wanted to pitch streamers out of one of those things. :have-a-nice-day:

If there's an open slot on either day I'd be happy to earn my keep in beer, vittles, gas $, etc. Plus I'm better behaved than Gavin and Coldwaterfshr. Smell better too. Lemme know, thanks!

I believe that, it can get skinny with no water to dig your oars in to, it's different right now!

If the official Driftboat Conclave is like the unofficial Driftboat Conclaves it is not to be missed. I'm in.
