Sore Thumbs Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Leatherwood in Eureka is supposed to be a great crappie and panfish lake.
Guest Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Leatherwood in Eureka is supposed to be a great crappie and panfish lake. Leatherwood is haunted with ghosts and evil witches, Don't fish there ever, its got no bass (sarcasm)
JohnF52 Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 I fished Wedington today. Crappie bite was slow. Water clear, temp right at 60 deg. It has been a cold spring.
Members MadRussian Posted April 23, 2013 Members Posted April 23, 2013 Are there some good crappie in Weddington? I've bass fished there several times as well as bream fished. Both with good to descent success. Never crappie fished out there or even "accidently" caught a crappie out of there. curious if there is a good population in there?
JohnF52 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Yes, there are decent crappie in Wedington. There is now a $5 launch fee that the USACE pass doesn't work for. They never charged to launch there until recently.
J-Doc Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 So when is the best time of year to take little kids with short attention spans for small brim/bluegills? I figured when water gets into the 70's so its not too hot and the fish are finally up shallow. When do bluegills go shallow is what I'm asking. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Guest Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 J, the gills might be spawning by Memorial Day and into June this year, maybe all summer if it stays cool. They will go shallow that's for sure
