Sore Thumbs Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 Oh. I thought maybe they were both here.
Sore Thumbs Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 How far can u go up the white right now?
hoglaw Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 How high could you run when you posted that? I'd imagine you could go dang near Sequoya in a bass boat. The river rose almost four feet in the last few days. It will drop out steadily this week, but it got a major bump from all this rain. I really hope it gets good and low again before the white bass are done. The water was gorgeous before this weekend's storms. Where did you see 58 degrees? It peaked at 52 on the USGS gauge which is the highest it's been for the last two weeks. By no means am I doubting what you saw or the accuracy of your gear. I'm just wondering how much discrepancy exists between the USGS gauge and wherever you were on the river.

That gauge is up in the moving water, temps can be 5 degrees warmer in areas like blue springs that are protected from current.
Sore Thumbs Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 58 was the high not the norm. Most of the time it was between 52-54. Hit a hot spot not to far from war eagle marina. I thought it was tough to get to twin bridges at normal pool in a boat? We are stil a little over 5 ft low.
sfiser Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 you can safely get just a few miles up from blue springs in a bass boat, maybe 2 miles or so.. anything other than that is too big a risk. Only in the highest water we have had can you actually get to twin bridges. No way you could get near twin bridges in a bass boat right now
npierceuark Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I've seen a couple jons with 25's or smaller cruising up and down and one really nice inboard jet boat upstream of neil's bluff. a couple of the smaller outboard guys have struggled so I'd be careful.
JohnF52 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I was at twin bridges today, and nothing biting for anyone. Several people were fishing, including myself. The water is high, swift, dingy, and about 53 degrees. Visibility about one foot at the most. I saw some guys put in a 17 foot tracker with a 40 HP on it at the ramp below Hwy 45 Bridge.
Sore Thumbs Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Neals Bluff might be a good place to try.
