jdelow77 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Anyone get out to twin or war eagle today ? Going to try to get out this week before this next round of rain hits !
hoglaw Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I drove over it twice on the way to pick up my boat (that I've been waiting on for over two months it seems). Finally got it home. I think it's destined for a twin trip at some point in the not too distant future. Wednesday if I can swing it, Saturday if not. The fish are in the river. I caught small males a long way above twin last week. I thought I had them dialed in until a rain or two ago. Anyone think they're done yet? I'm starting to wonder whether triple digit days will have to wait until next spring.
chris3179 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 You might check out lake fayetteville. My son and I caught these. I went out there and was hammering them, so went and picked my son up from school early. It was a great day. He lasted 1.5 hours!!!!
J-Doc Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Ssshhhh.........don't tell everyone! :-) Cool trip. Did that with my little one a few years ago. The whites there are picky picky. They are either hot or cold as an ice cube. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Feathers and Fins Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Im betting at least 2 to 3 more weeks, Crappie Walleye and Whites I cleaned Sunday still had plenty of eggs in them. We might see a great bite until maybe July if a person can follow the migration of the fish back out of the spawning grounds and on to the main lake. Only issue would be the Summer Hatch might keep people off or limit the hours to avoid the annoying water Hatch. Last year as an example I was still able to get in some really good white and walleye fishing 5 weeks after the spawn was done by following the fish till they hit the main lake after that they scattered and made it tough going. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
hoglaw Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 After what seems like months of waiting, I finally got my boat. It's a 21' x 54" AFF fiberglass river jon with a 90h yamaha jet. It's a beast and it runs like a scalded dog. I took it out on the White below Bull Shoals twice before I bought it, but I haven't had a good opportunity to see how shallow I can run on plane yet. I'm hoping to get out there on Saturday. Hopefully they'll still be doing their thing. I'll probably try to launch at Beavorama as I don't need a whole lot of ramp with the EZLoader. Going to try and get the TM set up on it tonight. We'll see how that goes.
J-Doc Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Uhh.......pictures?? :-). A good video would be cool too. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
npierceuark Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Sorry if I ruined the unveiling hog but I couldn't help it, great looking boat. Should be a river running machine. This is his rig, got a little boat envy right now
npierceuark Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I did get out and fish a bit tonight, hit twin and didn't catch many but made up for it in quality. Caught this pig and its slightly smaller brother within the first few minutes
hoglaw Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Thanks Nick, I was trying to figure out how to get it off my phone and onto my computer at work to post it. A friend and I worked LATE last night getting the TM installed. My whole body is sore today from holding a wrench taped onto a broom stick for most of the night, but we got it done right. Nice fish. Glad you got to get out before the rain. I'll probably give it a go on Saturday.
