Justin Spencer Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I kept about 10 of the fish I caught the other day and through back the fattest ones. Thinking I was only keeping males, it ended up some of the males were fatter than the females. Eggs still had a long way to go before they are ready, should have a good run for several more weeks. Heading to Cook's today, don't figure I'll find many up in the river, but can fill the void with some Kentuckies until we get to the whites. Wayne SW/MO Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Justin do you catch many meanmouths around Cook? It's been 3 years + since I've been there, but I caught 2 the last time I was there. They're the only 2 I have caught in a stream. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Just got back from the float, one spot, one bluegill and only two whites which were caught below the forks. The high sun made it tough, saw lots of whites and my wife missed a few but you could basically hit them in the head without a bite. Bryant is too clear and a little low for my liking on the white bass, the upcoming forecast should bring a rise and put some color in the water, just hope it doesn't blow it out like it seems to always do as the run peaks. With the sun I would say it's a night game, tons of boats around the bridge and saw only one get caught on live bait. Brian Wise Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 just hope it doesn't blow it out like it seems to always do as the run peaks. Blow out? WHAT are you talking about? It will wait until you and I have had a couple of chances to float and really home in on them.....and then it will blow out. See any stripers? My Youtube Channel

Barely saw a fish in the river, it was low and clear and seems more filled in with sand than I have ever seen, saw some good sized fish at forks, hybrids? catman70 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Seems like since that big flood in 2011 the lower part of the river is really silted. I barely saw any fish in there the last time I floated it and the fishing was terrible. May a few floods within the bans will help. There's been quite a bit of gravel and sand mining downstream from Warren over the last few years and I have a feeling the big flood may have washed a lot of that in.
gotmuddy Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I found out today that my favorite hole on big creek is silted in. must be all that darn gravel mining, or jet boats....or just nature. whites are starting to move into big creek but today wouldnt eat anything. tomorrow I will try bennetts. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
