LittleRedFisherman Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Ahh, nothing like Many Islands on a Memorial Day Weekend. It would even make Kenny Powers cringe a little bit. I learned to paddle a canoe on the Spring River, kinda miss that place when its not crowded. Are the Cherokee Village Lakes worth fishing? Oh yeah, those Cherokee lakes are pretty good, but you gotta be a member or landowner to fish them, that's probably why, plus they seem to stock them and keep them up. you must have had a bunch of water. I wouldnt run the southfork in a jetboat without lots of water. Cody, I don't think you can use a Jet in Southfork, I figure it's a paddle stream only, and it should be. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
gotmuddy Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 legally you can use one, but for safetys sake I wouldnt. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

gotmuddy Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 you can run some parts of the river, but there are lots of waterfalls. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

hoglaw Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I really used to like that show when it was on...Ozark Outdoors I think. Pretty sure not one of us here condones the practice of keeping near trophy sized small mouth for table fare, but I always enjoyed watching those guys. I did see the frog show, the bowfishing show where Jason got nailed in the cheek by the nock of his own arrow when it ricocheted off the bottom, the sucker grabbing show, and the noodling show. I remember a number of shows where they were catching big fish in public lakes and streams. As far as fishing shows go, it was really one of my favorites. Guess that makes me a typical Arkansaw hog, or whatever someone said earlier in this thread.

I big argument on this thread is how many fishing and hunting shows these days use "artificial" results to get a film. Crowbar's shows, especially the ones with Jason were for sure not that. He did one show were he would stand on one of the Waterfalls probably on the Spring, and was catching monster walleye, I'm talking like 6 to 8 pounds, that was probably 10 years ago. There homemade commercials were the best though...lol legally you can use one, but for safetys sake I wouldnt. I did not know that Cody, but I'll not try that. Looking at some fishing Kayaks for fishing there this summer!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Members creekin bassnerd Posted April 10, 2013 Members Posted April 10, 2013 I agree about the pressure. And man does it hurt to see them strung up. A few years ago I was floating a popular stream and ran up on a couple of ol' boys fishing. He was all to proud to hoist up his stringer with about 4-5 brownies all in the 15-16 inch range. He was bragging on his prowess with live bait and had to give me a complete rundown as I drifted by with my son. He was about 9 at the time and after we got by him, he turned to me and just shook his head. I knew at that point, I had trained him right. I've seen that scenario play out as well, its good to hear your 9 year old boy understood. Gives me some hope that the new generation of kids will grow up conservation minded and not just take whatever they want when they want it.
LittleRedFisherman Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 Looks like he's still on them! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
