Blazerman Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Looks like the MDC fishing report has been updated this year and has a lot more information than past years. I like the fact that there is more info. Just hope it will be more accurate then years past. As far as Ozark rivers and streams were concerned, while other reports were saying stream bass were hitting great on topwater or crankbaits, seemed like smallmouth were always “fair on soft plastics” unless there was a bunch of rain and then they “were high and muddy with all species slow”. One thing I have never understood though. The MDC has stated they would like to see reduced numbers of Spotted bass in Ozark streams to help the Smallmouth. And they have taken off the length limit and raised the creel limit as well. So why not leave the Spotted bass season open all year in Ozark streams so the spawning females could be taken out in the spring before spawning. Seems like that would reduced the numbers even further.
mic Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 My uneducated guess, is they worry more about the folks "mixing up" species and taking out large mouth and smallmouth.
WakenLake Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Their fishing report is a joke. It would be helpful if maybe they talked to more people or fished themselves because none of their advice is anything like people tell me whats working and what I figure out on the lake. www.jordanvalleyautorepair.com
UnCivE Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Yeah, I believe I could just make up a fishing report that was at lleast as accurate as that one seems to be.
fishinwrench Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Fishing reports, regardless of who publishes them, are for entertainment purposes only. Why MDC even wants to be in the entertainment business is beyond me..... but whatever. Somewhere down the line someone decided that a monthly fishing report was expected of them, and somebody else on the payroll needed a cush little project to milk, so we have had a "fishing report" ever since. I say; Sequester that sumbitch!
WakenLake Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 The fishing reports on here certainly help me how to determine how Im gonna tackle em. You always have to what you think will work but I dont leave home without checking. www.jordanvalleyautorepair.com
