Quillback Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Fished out of the back of Jeb's boat today, I always enjoy roaming his back deck. The fishing was outstanding numbers wise, we caught close to 60 black bass, probably about 60% spots, the rest being mostly male LM's with a couple of smallies and meanmouth thrown in. It was one of those quantity, not quality days, biggest bass was maybe 2.5 lbs. and we might have had 10 keepers total. Best baits were t-rigged tubes and c-rigged craws. Rocky flats and secondary points midway back in coves were the places to get them, stay in contact with the bottom and slow drag the plastics and you should catch fish up in the White. Water temps were 52 - 54. Jeb also got a couple of keeper walleye on the craw, and we picked up several nice whites to boot. I'm assuming these are the bigger female whites as they were around 2 lbs. but looks like they've got a ways to go before they get up to the Holiday Island area. Funny how the spots have suddenly become active, wish we could have found some of those nice 3 lb. spots but just couldn't seem to find them, maybe next time..
jeb Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Fun day for sure. The wind was a little too strong at times, but at least the sun was warming things up quicker than yesterday! Water is pretty clear. Could see down pretty easy to 10' or more in a lot of areas. Surprised we didn't run into a few nicer fish, but it's hard to be disappointed with the numbers. Pretty steady fishing all day.
