Members Dylan Twombly 09 Posted April 15, 2013 Members Posted April 15, 2013 Ive been painting lures just recently and wondered if anyone would like to give suggestions or if anyone knows a way to sell them. Thanks.
tho1mas Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I have seen some of his work - wish he would have attached a picture of his wiggle wart. He is 15 and a good grandson.
motoman Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 eBay is a good way to sell them. But, be sure you are specific of the type of bait being painted; and possibly discuss the process of prep, painting, clearing, etc. otherwise, people may be hesitant; cause the concern may be they are just buying a fancy shelf decoration.
Members Dylan Twombly 09 Posted April 16, 2013 Author Members Posted April 16, 2013 some recent lures that i have painted. The copper craw, the sunburst craw, and the single one is the mocha craw.
abkeenan Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Wow you are only 15? You have some serious skills young man. Those look fantastic. There is a for sale forum here on that I would dare to say you might do pretty well on just looking at your work. Give that a try. Ebay is also a good source to sell things but there is an ever growing amount of custom painters there now selling custom painted wiggle warts so the competition level is somewhat pretty high. Ebay custom painters on wiggle warts has seriously probably increased 10 fold in just the last 6 months to a year. Good luck with your talent and baits.

jmes Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 The custom painted wiggle warts on Ebay vary a lot in price. If you get a good name and about 5 to 6 quality colors you can make a lot of money Example is the Hunter boys they custom paint pre-rapala wiggle warts and there hot colors usual sell for around 40 to 50 dollars. Then there is others custom painted baits by other people that sale for around 10 to 15 dollars. You have a great talent wish the best on your future endeavors
Members Dylan Twombly 09 Posted April 16, 2013 Author Members Posted April 16, 2013 Thank you all for the advise looks like I have some marketing I need to work on and thanks for the complements it means a lot to know that someone likes your work.
Members Dylan Twombly 09 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Members Posted April 17, 2013 If any of you know of the colors that are popular and where they work let me know. I would like to start soon so that I can regenerate the Dylan Twombly gas fund. Thanks.
abkeenan Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Dylan, Go on Ebay and search "wiggle wart" and then just take a look at what colors are selling best or for the highest amount of $. The Hunter Boys color schemes are really going for high dollars $50+ bucks a piece so I would maybe paint something similar. Can never go wrong with greens, green pumpkins, browns with hints on oranges or reds in craw colored patterns. Good luck....I need a "gas fund" myself with the price going to be around $4+ this summer. Hope you do well. Here is a link to Hunter Bro's feedback. Click on the "view item" and it will show you the listing of the wiggle wart sold and the color pattern. Maybe give you some ideas as to what is selling well. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=clhunter21&iid=200912078298&de=off&items=25&which=positive&interval=30&_trkparms=positive_30
