Lifes2Short Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 The weatherman said, "High of 71-S.E.winds of 13".....It was 44 and raining when we hit the ramp, N.E.winds 15+ all day, and the high made it to 48. So much for fishing the 3rd day of a warm front. Got on the water out of Roark Bluff about 8:00 and fished from Sons Creek to the Mutton Creek area. It was another "Pick a Bait" day with bass being caught on jigs, jerks, warts, square-bills, and one on a spinner bait. Water was 49 to 52 everywhere we ran on the lake. The water in Son's Creek, starting where the timber starts, is very stained to muddy. We only caught 2 bass in Son's and spent 3 hours up there. We also tried the floating worm but could not get any takers. Bass were caught off of boat ramps, seconday points in 15' of water, backs of coves on the last channel-swing bank, and wart fish on gravel banks. All in all we caught roughly 16 bass with only 3 keepers. Late in the afternoon we fished a brush pile in 25' over by Mutton and ended up catching about a dozen crappie, 6 of them were very nice slabs from 12 to almost 14 inches. With cold temps and possible snow back in the forcast it looks like ti's still going to be 2 or more weeks for everything to bust loose........weather pending, again! Tight lines all.
