Members Mr. Smallfish Posted April 21, 2013 Members Posted April 21, 2013 Anyone fish the James arm this weekend. Just wondering about any crappie or whites or if the water was a mess after all the rain last week.
duckydoty Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Fished around the Long Bend area. Dirty water. 6 to 12 inches of clarity. Only caught 1 keeper crappie. Talked to a few others that were fairing about the same. Found some clearer water down in a cove past point 14 but no bite. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Members JerryK Posted April 21, 2013 Members Posted April 21, 2013 I just got to Aunt's Creek and the water is dingy
Sore Thumbs Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Me too. Caught several in that dirty water this morning on a red painted wart and missed a good one on a black jig. Best fish was 2-2/12 lbr. Had a fun day. Got one fish that wasn't in stained water on a dark green wart. I think im becoming a stained water lover. Lots of debris in aunts, but clears up by the mouth.
Members murphdog Posted April 24, 2013 Members Posted April 24, 2013 Fished for Crappie around James and Flat Creek Monday 4/22. Fished flat banks, water was around 58 deg and stained. Bite was sporadic with most caught on black/chart jigs. Several were full of eggs and ready to go. Ended up with 13 in about 6 hrs. It will only get better when the water warms up. Good luck. Life's way too short not to fish!
