dtrs5kprs Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Did not fish Thursday after the weather. Back out Friday, tried to fish what. Seemed to make sense. Was a challenge until noon or so. Got a finesse bite going 20' deep and more off gravel. Pushed the envelope on the Ned rig by bumping up to 1/8oz head and dragging it around out there. Later in afternoon started catching some solid brown fish in 6-10', also on PBJ Ned rig. 4keepers, all but one brown. Nice solid fish, but not killers. Lots of shorts, eventually. Today finesse bite was in full gear, but numbers down. Had 7 keepers, but only about twice that in shorts. Fish mostly 16-17" or so. Pale brownies with red eyes starting to show up. Found it tough to catch them other ways today, couple on the grub, but nothing serious. Lots of folks are fishing way off these fish, or way too quickly. Water is warming and clearing. Saw some 58+ in a place or two. Enjoyed some good times with our very own Motoman, who is also in at schooner.

Quillback Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Thanks for the report, buddy of mine was up the White yesterday, they caught around 20 dragging plastics, he said the water up there is brown but you can still catch fish.

Looked like they were pulling the lake down.

But, Dave's info above was spot on! We picked off a couple smallies right at the 3 pound mark. Which smallmouth like that,........I'll take 'em ALL day long!........so don't think for a minute that Ned rig is even remotely for small fish. - Thanks again Dave, you're the best my man!;-)
