yaknar Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I got the kayak out for the first time Wednesday and floated down the James. I was scheduled off Friday, but was able to switch my day off to Wednesday, due to the cold front and rain headed this way. The water was a little up and moving. I wasn't able to get out of the kayak much and wade, and it took me a little while to find them. These fish were down in the deep holes.( I didn't pull any off beds.) I caught one White but no picture and no crappie. But here are a couple of pictures of some of them. I bought a new camera after last dunking my non water proof camera in the river last year and I still working on taking videos. CATCH AND RELEASE
TSmith Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Well done. Where were you fishing? I believe that fishing is usually better when there is a full moon. People are more crazy when there is a full moon. Thank God He made fish the way He did so I can have better fishing when people are crazier than normal.
yaknar Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 TSmith, I floated Shelvin Rock to Hootentown. It normally takes me about 8 to 81/2 hours to float but that day it only took 5 hours.
Seth Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Did you see any paddlefish on your float? I know they started catching them pretty good right as season ended up the river.
MSUFisherBear Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Yaknar, What type of camera did you get? There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving
yaknar Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 MSUFisherBear, The camera is a Fujifilm Finepix XP50.
MSUFisherBear Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Nice! I got one of the Kodak PlaySport cameras. I'd like to figure out a way to mount it on my Kayak to do a little videotaping on my adventures. Maybe I overlook it, but it'd be cool to go back and study some of the "game footage" to visually see some of the things that worked best for me and some of the ways that I presented so that I can try and mimic that again. luckycraft Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Did you get that ocean yak at the outlet last year. Got one just like it in the garage?
