rps Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 go to youtube. type in boat ramp fail. you will laugh yourself until your sides hurt.
Guest Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Its the mentality of back the boat down the ramp and start loading everything you own into the boat. Coolers, life jackets, stereos, lunch, skis, tents, cases and cases of beer, grills, fireworks, Alabama rigs (its the new redneck chandelier) All of which can be loaded in the parking lot. Or start shade tree mechanic work at the same time. I can understand if your boat is incapacitated, but that's rarely the case.
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I've been using ramps for roughly 50 years, and I wouldn't know where to start. If I had to pick one it would be the most common, doing things on the ramp that should be done somewhere else. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
David Unnerstall Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I deal with the dashing-urbanites in lawn chairs fishing on the ramp itself. I can chase them out if I pretend to ignore them -- but the large rocks used to support the poles stop the wheels on my trailer.
Quillback Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 That's another one, people fishing from ramps or from the courtesy dock. I don't mind them fishing, but what is aggravating is when they leave their lines in the water and get all huffy when you pull into the dock.

If its some dufus......I agree but I remember what it feels like all too well to be stuck on the bank without a boat. I respect the bank beater who looses their baits and can't retrieve them, who is stuck watching us boaters enjoy ourselves, etc. If its a kid in the dock, I give him a few of my baits and tell him where to cast and what to try. Guest Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Then, theres always a boat load of family members who seem to pile into a runabout on sunny days. while the other half of the family stands on the courtesy dock with their orange life jackets on waiting for the next shuttle. I feel bad for the motor when its choked down trying to plane off with little hope, meanwhile the exhaust is choking out below the surface.
jeb Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 The moron in the big $50,000 wave maker (ski boat) that comes pulling up to the dock at 3/4 to wide open throttle with the obnoxiously bad taste in music (usually gangster rap). He proceeds to within 50ft of the dock before shutting down the USS STUPID and then creates a 4-6ft tall wake that slams the dock and other boats that are beached (usually us bass boats because the dock is full) and the poor schmuck trying to launch his pontoon boat (see above where Cooter Brown is trying to start the motor on old gas from last year) This is the typical 10AM to 5PM scenario at Hickory Creek public launch. Happens a ton in the Prarire Creek area, too. I hate those wake board boats. Their entire purpose in life is to produce the very thing that is so hard on shorelines, docks, fishermen and moored boats. But $50K would only get you a used one. I peeked at the price tag of some at the Rogers Boat Show last year out of curiosity and most were close to 6 figures or higher. Top one I saw was nearly $120k! John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
