Yeah, I hate to see nice concrete boat ramps on streams that are only jetboatable in higher water levels, because it not only brings more jetboats when the river IS higher, but also encourages them to try it at marginal levels. I'd rather have an unimproved access where you have to work a little to get a canoe into the river...keeps away some of the river dorks. However, a concrete ramp, while a lot more expensive to begin with, is a lot more maintenance free, and does make launching a paddle craft a lot easier.

My thoughts exactly.

The James is just not very jet boat friendly that far north. I guess some will find out the hard way but you won't be taking a jet from Hooten to Shelvin, or vice versa, at any level except flood stage. I'm thinking right around the Finley you are going to run into a big problem.

Yep, just above the highway M bridge would be fun to jump - in someone elses boat. AND - just upstream of Shelvin is that solid rock stair-step ledge at the big round pool heading towards Delaware Town access.

We've ran from Delaware Town to to the golf course but the water was up quite a bit. There's no way I'd try it unless the water was up quite a bit. My buddy already wrecked one boat a few years ago trying to get to some holes below Delaware Town after the water had dropped down to a bit over normal.
