9LB Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 What a wonderful weekend! Walleyes, Walleyes and more Walleyes and then when we had our limit and went bass fishing = Bigger Walleyes. Trolling into the wind Saturday was the ticket. Orange/Gold Pattern Flickr Shad and a sunfish colored Norman Litlle N. Water was 59 degrees, I would guess we caught 20 walleyes, 10 crappies and 6 whites trolling over the entire weekend. 20 - 25 foot of water. We were catching our limits in about 2.5 hours so we did a lot of bass fishing. Caught a bunch of Kentuckies on the banks just inside and around points 3 - 15 foot of water. I was using the Gulp nightcrawler and a jighead looking for walleyes and the Bass were just hammering it. I decided to use that gulp worm with a Ned Rig and hold on ! That little rig was smokin hot ! I was planning on catching walleyes with the Gulp worms, not Bass and they are expensive so I moved to a twin tail green pumpkin purple flake grub and caught some real nice 2 - 3 lb bass on Sunday. On Sunday when the sun came up we were catching some real nice walleyes up on the banks in the brush with this same jig. The Mrs lost what I wolud guess was a 6-7 lber right at the boat and we caught 3 more over 21". I could fish a spot with no bite and then throw the Ned Rig with the Gulp worm and work in the same spots and catch 2-3 ! I can not afford to fish them that way but I was overly suprised. I have actully never fished the Ned Rig with any kind of bait so maybe it is also just the rig ?? I think the fish are biting everything but that bait was definately special this weekend. Get out and get them the bite is FINALLY ON !
Ham Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Stockton seems to be a heck of a lake. Slap full of walleye. Lots of bass too. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members murphdog Posted May 13, 2013 Members Posted May 13, 2013 Great report! Sounds like a lot of fun! Life's way too short not to fish!
