Quillback Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Launched out of Big M today at 0600 with Jeb in the back of the boat. We zipped out to some gravel points that have had a topwater bite the last couple of weeks and we did find a good bite that lasted for about an hour, got a bit of wind across the points and it put them down for some reason, you would have thought it would have really fired them up, but it didn't. After that we fished buck brush throwing shakey heads and jigs, picking up fish here and there and an occasional top water fish. The bite really slowed down about 1030 and we were on the trailer at 1:30 PM. We did pick up a few more in the last cove we fished c-rigging. Ended up with close to 50 bass, no big ones, but a couple of 2.5 lb. bass, quite a few chunky 13-16" spots and a couple of smallies. Lots of fun. Jeb did a little Jika rig fishing, got a few fish with a trick worm on it. Water temp 71 when we left, visibility about 6 - 8 feet. Moss has pretty much disappeared in the area.
dtrs5kprs Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 As it warms up, try a jika in the 3/8 or 1/2 oz range with a beaver or brush hog, and put it down in some trees. Should get going as it warms up, and that darn thing really goes into, and comes back out of the wood.

Like oil and water. Never ever try it with the Blackberry color either.

jeb Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Sorry I made you walk all the way back to your truck to shut your lights off, Riverfish. I tried to get your attention from where it was parked, but didn't want to climb in your truck w/o permission. Sounds like you had a great day! Nice work. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
